Get to Know Julie

Passion for Community and Collaboration

“I love being able to help somebody work through their challenges in learning their equipment, in learning how to get the look that they want, and developing their style…and being able to get all of that stuff aside so that you can get to the art and the fulfilling part of photography.”

Julie is well versed in a number of photography genres and enjoys tinkering with light to achieve creative results. Besides working on commissioned projects, Julie regularly travels the country with the Speedlight Fundamentals / Flashgear.net team to teach off-camera lighting to other photographers. She has taught over 75 seminars to date. As an instructor, Julie meets her students at their level of ability and does everything she can to help them realize their creative potential. She’s always prepared with a bag full of Westcott gear to help someone’s idea come into focus.

Mental health is important to Julie, and she has been a longtime advocate for awareness in the creative community. In her personal time, she can be found most days in the country, loving on her USMC Gold Star Family as a full-time homeschool mom to her four children and as queen bee to their flock of many chickens.
